MAINTENANCE
Keep your watch in perfect condition by following these tips
MAGNETIC FIELDS
Avoid placing your watch on speakers or refrigerators, as they can generate very strong magnetic fields that could damage it.
SCREW-DOWN CROWN
Always screw the crown fully to prevent water from entering the mechanism, safeguarding the watch and its functionality.
NON-SCREWABLE CROWN
Always press the crown back to its normal position to prevent water from entering the mechanism and potentially damaging the watch and its movement.
IMPACTS
Avoid any impact against furniture, walls, etc., as much as possible; impacts are never good for the machinery.
CLEANING
For metal bracelets and waterproof cases, use a damp toothbrush with soapy water and dry with a soft cloth.
CHEMICAL PRODUCTS
Avoid direct contact with solvents, detergents, perfumes, cosmetics, etc., as they can damage the bracelet, case, or watch seals.
SWIMMING IN SEAWATER
Afterward, rinse the watch with fresh water. However, we highly recommend refraining from wearing the watch in these circumstances, especially if it has a leather strap.
CHRONOGRAPH
Avoid operating the chronograph buttons underwater to prevent water from entering the mechanism and potentially disrupting its functionality.
TEMPERATURES
Avoid extreme temperatures (above 60 ºC, or 140 ºF, or below 0 ºC, or 32 ºF) Also avoid sudden temperature changes. In mechanical watchmaking they greatly affect the rate of movement of the watch.
LEATHER STRAP
1. Avoid contact with water and moisture to prevent discoloration and deformation.
2. Avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight to prevent color fading.
3. Don’t forget that leather is permeable! Avoid contact with greasy substances and cosmetic products. It is not advisable to apply leather cleaners to this kind of straps.
WATERTIGHTNESS
The waterproofing cannot be guaranteed indefinitely. It can be affected by aging seals or accidental impact on the crown. We recommend checking the watch’s water resistance once a year at an official COLOMER AND SONS center. In general, our watches are suitable for surface swimming but not intended for depths exceeding 2 meters.
AUTOMATIC WATCH
The watch must be worn 10 to 12 hours a day for several days. If the watch is not worn enough, the power reserve will continue to be depleted and manual-winding will be required. The crown should be manually turned between 15 and 20 times to achieve an adequate power reserve and ensure the accuracy of the timekeeping. A very common mistake is believing that simply shaking an automatic watch a little is enough to keep it running and maintaining the exact time.
